The New York Post, the nation's oldest continuously published daily newspaper, has announced plans to make its 200 years worth of archives available on the Internet.
The plan calls for the paper to digitize its existing microfilm archive, making the entire contents of the paper viewable in the original printed format.
Access to the new archive will be on a subscription basis. Neither fees nor search strategies for teh archive were announced. Currently, The paper makes its archives available back to 1999 on the Internet. Articles older than seven days are available for $2.50 each.
While the archive is hoped to be available for the newspaper's bicentennial in November, details regarding the archive's searchability were also not available.
The New York Post was founded in November 1801 by Federalist Alexander Hamilton.
