2. Less Vital Record Information Available Free on the Internet
California Governor Gray Davis signed an Executive Order effectively forcing geneology research site Rootsweb to remove California birth and death records. Texas and Maine records also removed. See http://www.netforlawyers.com/vital_records.htm
3. Computer Training Best in 'Byte-Size' Chunks
Most companies train employees to use new software in a single half-, full- or two-day intensive session. This article discusses the benefits of offering training in more manageable increments. This type of training on a more regular schedule helps employees retain more information and reinforces what they previously learned - helping them to work more effectively. 4. Yahoo Announces Video E-mail Service
Internet portal juggernaut Yahoo has announced a new video e-mail service that would allow attorneys to share video testimony, site surveys, etc. with clients, co-counsel or opposition. A federal judge has ruled that New Jersey cannot post the addresses of registered sex offenders on the Internet. 6. Department of Interior Site Offers Limited Access After Being Forced Offline by Court Order
The U.S. Department of Interior web site is once again available - albeit in a severely truncated version. 7. NARA Reports on Government Record-Keeping
The National Archive & Records Administration has released the first of three reports on Government record-keeping. The agency is soliciting public comment on this first report until January 31, 2002. See: http://www.netforlawyers.com/nara.htm
8. U.S. Supreme Court Accepts E-mail & Fax Filings
After anthrax closed the Supreme Court building in late October, the court accepted e-mailed or faxed copies of original documents languishing in the (closed) Supreme Court mailroom. See http://www.netforlawyers.com/supreme_efiling.htm
9. FindLaw Expands Search Functions of Free California Case Law Research Database--Then Hides It
Formerly listed prominently on the site's front page, FindLaw has moved links to its free California case law research database to less conspicuous locations, while adding more search functionality. See: http://www.netforlawyers.com/hidden_findlaw.htm
10. Google Now Offers Catalog Searches
